Kyle Orton

26 May 2009

2009 season it looks like their problems will be not only the defense again, but also the QB.  Kyle Orton is not a Starter, but he will be trusted to head the Broncos to a legitimate season. Have fun with that Denver, I'll give 9/10 to the Steelers.

runtled quarterback Jay Cutler is being sent to the bears in exchange for Chicago Bears quarterback Kyle Orton, a first (18th overall) round pick, and a third (84th overall) round pick this year, and a first round pick next year.  In addition the broncos will receive a 5th rounder this year (whoopdee doo).  Now that I have seen the details of the exchange, i'm glad the Redskins didn't go through with it.  First of all, the Redskins only had 4 total picks this year, trading away 2 of them would have left us with nothing.  I did want Cutler, but that is a price even the Danny couldn't do.  Luckily for us, Campbell is very composed, very mature, and dealing with the situation very well.

Don't get me wrong, Kyle Orton showed a lot of progress this year, and could perhaps be the guy in Chicago... eventually. In the mean time what do we do. While Orton is not as inconsistent as Rex Grossman, if Orton should go down, we're stuck with Grossman. Either way there needs to be some effort in acquiring a seasoned quarterback that doesn't turn the ball over.

ain.  They thrive on establishing the running game with rookie phenom Matt Forte, then letting Kyle Orton heave the rock downfield to his big, athletic (although not all that talented) wide receivers and have them make plays in single coverage.  So, stop the run (the Vikings' specialty), and you usually stop Da Bears.  Again, that bodes well for the Vikings.

ion, the Purple could not go into halftime on a high note.  With just 22 seconds on the clock, Kyle Orton led the Bears down the field (two passes to wide-open receivers) and set up Gould for a 57-yard field goal, which would have been the longest attempt of his career.  Of course, the Vikings promptly jumped off sides and moved the ball five yards closer, after which Gould punched it through to give the Bears a 27-24 halftime lead.  Another Purple folly that would come back to haunt them later.

ling statement if you have followed the Bears the last few years).  They finally have a QB, in Kyle Orton, who can move the team down the field, and that is pretty much all a team needs to beat the Vikings.  Plus, RB Matt Forte is a tough runner (in typical Bears style) who will not be deterred by a few early stuffs by the Williams duo (which is always a good possibility).
