The Redskins signed Former Bear and Texan Rex Grossman to a one-year deal.

It is believed that ole Rex was signed to replace the aging Todd Collins as the #2 behind JC.  Although.....He did play for Kyle Shanahan (New

made us all a little less angry.

So, with that said lets talk about the next step for the Redskins, the draft. Free agency is obviously gonna be rough this year without a new CBA agreement reached.  Which basically means all the unrestricted free-agents will now be restricted free-agents.  Here is what I think we should do with free-agency and the draft.

The Redskins have crippled their team throughout the past decade by trading away draft picks for older or big-name players that never seem to make an impact on this team excluding of course London Fletcher.

le rumor going around is about the draft.  Apparently, Mel Piper has Mark Sanchez going to the Redskins at the 13th pick.  According to rumors, management with the Skins wants Campbell out.  They tried trading the 5th year veteran for draft picks during the whole Jay Cutler shabaz.  They tried trading Campbell for Cutler and failed.  Now, apparently the Washington

Brian Cushing/USC

Lots of draftboards have Cushing going to the Redskins.  Cushing is on the 2007 preseason Phil Steele's All-America team and on the 2007 Bednarik Award and Lott Trophy watch lists.  As seen on the nationally televised coverage of the Thanksgiving Day game, Cushing skillfully returned a failed onside kick attempted by Notre Dame at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for a late fourth-quarter touchdown in the 2006 season.  So far has recorded 129 Tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 Sacks, 11 passes defended, 4 Forced Fumbles and 3 Fumbles Recovered.  On January 1, 2007, Cushing was named the Defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl Game, after recording 2½ sacks and forcing a third-quarter fumble that changed the momentum of the game.

nder this year (whoopdee doo).  Now that I have seen the details of the exchange, i'm glad the Redskins didn't go through with it.  First of all, the Redskins only had 4 total picks this year, trading away 2 of them would have left us with nothing.  I did want Cutler, but that is a price even the Danny couldn't do.  Luckily for us, Campbell is very composed, very mature, and dealing with the situation very well.

Yes I know, Stephon Heyer made the team as an undrafted rookie from Maryland.  He was the only Redskins exception in who knows how many years.  Haha, yea I know I'm a freakin blogger and I should know when right? WRONG!  My job is not to throw numbers out there, its to write what I think, and what I gather talking to the real fan on the streets.

Ok, well here we go again.  Like the pre-Gibbs years, we barely have enough draft picks to satisfy more than one position.  We have 4 total picks, 4!!  If i'm not mistaken there are 7 rounds, and everybody gets 2 in the 7th round.  We have 4, thanks in large part to our "Director" Vinny Cerrato.  We threw a 2nd round pick this year and a 6th rounder next year to miami for Jason Taylor.  Wow, another brilliant move by the freakin skins.  What did he play like 3 games?   Had a career low in sacks, forced fumbles, etc.  Now he has been released because he didn't feel like practicing.  " I'm 100 percent positive he'll play longer than one year"-Vinny Cerrato.  Genius, thanks Vin Dieseldorf.  A 2nd round pick is very valuable, especially a high 2nd rounder.  Lets see who a couple of players were as 2nd rounders.

I'm not surprised at all that Danny Boy went out and spent more on two players in an hour than what the salary cap is supposed to be this year.  Without Joe Gibbs at the helm telling Danny Boy that he can't go out and get every big name there is out there, he went out and got every big name there was out there.  With the exception of Slippery Hands Mcgee (Terrell Owens), we got the biggest names out there.

It hurts to be a Washington Redskins fan sometimes.

I mean what a great first half to this season. I was so excited I really thought we had found the right coaches, players and mojo. The defense was tough, stingy and game changing at times. The offense was tight, unpredictable and ball hogging. We beat Dallas and Philly away in great games. It looked as though we were the real deal.

NFC EAST

The Day After the Blowout

Hello East fans,

Okay so my predictions were way off, well not by much except for the thrashing in St. Louis, I really think it is code red in Big D. The Skins got away with one at home against the resurged Brownies. The G-men handled the Whiners the way you should, let them beat themselves. Let’s start off with the biggest upset in the NFL since the previous week.

the Cowboys, including the Pacman Jones scandal, the signing of Roy Williams and Romo's injury, the Redskins have quietly retooled from what will hopefully be their most disappointing loss of the season. As I wrote before, signing Shaun Alexander could prove to be huge, and will cost almost nothing, and the additions of Safety Mike Green (not the hockey player) and Punter Ryan Plackemeier will solidify holes that are not critical to the teams success, but needed attention.

With Betts out for a while, will Shaun Alexander really be a difference maker for the Redskins?

The answer is "who cares," simply because Alexander comes to the Redskins for the price of the veteran minimum, and at worst will only be with the team for 4-5 weeks. At best, Alexander proves that he is somewhat of a shade of his former MVP self and can help the skins develop a legitimate two-back system where he and Portis can swap carries. I think this is a great move by the

NFC East

Week 6

Hello East Fans,

Well after a week of Hiatus to curse the football gods for my team’s embarrassing losses. I felt a preview of the Best division in Football was the only way to quench the thirst. Every team in the division except for Washington is on the road, let’s start with the leaders of the pack.

Each week, on Friday, I will look into my (never wrong, just misinformed) crystal ball and give my predictions for that weekend games.  I will always prognosticate on the Eagles and Cowboys games and then pick two more games of interest (to me, that is, not necessarily to you).  Keep in mind, that this is for entertainment purposes only, and that I do not endorse any sort of legal or illegal gambling.  That being said…let’s see what’s in my crystal ball!

7-1? I think that they will need to because NY and Dallas both have the same easy schedules as the Redskins so they will have to keep pace but did anyone think we would be here after the first game of the year? I know I wasn't ready then, nor am I ready now to declare anything about them. They are a much better team than last year because now teams have to respect both our passing and running games and our defense is playing very well but there are still many games left and the good teams are the ones that beat the bad teams so that will be the true test for this group of

The D did a solid job of containing the passing game of the cardinals. Warner was only sacked twice all game, however he was taken out of rhythm enough for us to scrape out another W. The run D was concerning because wee let a mediocre line make lanes for an aging back, but when it counted we took charge and stopped em every time. Rocky McIntosh is blossoming into an excellent OLB, and Kedric Golston is performing better week in and week out. I hope to see more from Anthony Montgomery as well as he continues to heal. Andre Carter is really playing well, stopping the run decently and also rushing the passer. Though Jason Taylor didnt record a sack, he had two critical passes defended on a goalline stand in the game.

Meanwhile in D.C. the Redskins had the best quarter of their lives in the first, then they let that great offense of Arizona comeback and gain some momentum. After a week of turmoil with that sideshow called Clinton, the Skins seem to be moving the ball great on O, but once again their secondary seems rather run down. They got lucky on the fourth down play when the referees once again blew the whistle prematurely for a delay of game penalty. The clock clearly showed a couple seconds left on it, and the Skins dodged a bullet on a promising drive by the Cardinals.

in years past though) and big draftees, big names overall, and yet the unfortunate fact is that the Redskins have neglected the positions where it all starts: the linemen.  When was the last time we spent a 1st or 2nd round draft pick on either side of the line? I mean on someone not named Samuels or Jansen (and that was still, what, like 6 years ago?).  I'm thinking Kenard Lang...that's not good.  What is a Clinton Portis or a Santana Moss worth if there's no O-Line?  Further, Carlos Rogers and Shaun Springs can't cover 'til the cows come home if the 35 year olds up front can't apply pressure.

As I've stated before, one of Jason Campbell's biggest issues is holding on to the ball and second guessing the coverage.

Santana Moss, against the Giants, could have had more on the boards.  The problem was Jason took too long to make a decision. It's one of those things that every quarterback has to get over early.

Ok, so I wasn't going to say I told you so but....I told you so. Everything Jason Campbell needed to do he did about 50 percent (15-for-27 for 133 yards with one touchdown...yeah matches up pretty good) and now Zorn has been quoted that it's going take a little longer to mold his quarterback into the ways of the Jedi West Coast Offense.

Steve Spurrier.

Ladies and gentlemen, there is no comparison.  Steve Spurrier looked at the Redskins as a test lab for his mad scientist-like fun and gun, let the D-linemen and linebackers knock the crap out of Patrick Ramsey offense (I think Patrick Ramsey flinches every time he hears the name Spurrier).  Spurrier might have been able to send five wideouts deep and run up the score on Vanderbilt but was in way over his head in the NFL and it showed.

As the Redskins move into "life without Gibbs," fans are still left to wonder about the state of the franchise.  The 'Skins have not enjoyed consistent success, save for the second Gibbs era, since "Danny" arrived as owner.  Is the franchise mismanaged or is the franchise experiencing bad times (think - Cincinnati Bengals (ouch!))?
