Let me first let this be known: I am NOT a Bears fan. So these opinions and observations are not of a "fan's" point of view; rather a more objectionable view. I just figure that since I am currently living in the area, I am more "in tune" to write about them. After watching the debacle called the 2007-08 season, these are low-cose moves that I believe the front office should take a look at.......

QB. Rex Grossman just signed a one-year contract. Its pretty obvious that he is going to enter training camp as the #1 quarterback. And he is not as bad as you think he is! Kyle Orton is probably your back-up. Brian Griese is a free-agent. I say, why not take a chance at a Drew Henson; a young quarterback (in football yrs), with alot of potential upside. What is there to lose?

Continue reading "PhilThe GM by Phillip Jones"

Yes. You read that correctly. The Atlanta Hawks have the potential to be sleeping giants. If Atlanta can gel relatively quickly, they will be heard from in the Eastern conference. Still dont believe me? Here are some reasons why......

1. Mike Bibby

He immediately adds a perimeter shooter that Atlanta has desperately been missing. He also adds veteran leadership and a HUGE relief for Joe Johnson who basically had to do the perimeter work by himself.

2. Versatility. I mean honestly, who is more versatile in the east at the 2, 3, and 4 position then the Hawks? Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, and Marvin Williams......they all are almost interchangable. And for those of you who instantly answer my question with the answer "The Boston Celtics", take this into consideration 1) Ray Allen has TWO bad ankles and 2) When has Paul Pierce really played defense? Versatility is HUGE in the playoffs.

Creativity. Originality. Personality. Athleticism. The 2008 NBA slam dunk provided all of the previously mentioned. From Gerald Green blowing out a candle atop a cupcake to Dwight Howard donning a Superman cape, this year’s contestants proved that indeed, the dunk competition is back! For years, the talk has been that all of the dunks that could possibly be done had already been done. How about an alley-oop from BEHIND the backboard into a windmill? Or tossing the ball to yourself, tapping it to your other hand off the backboard, and throwing it down. The eventual champion, Dwight Howard pulled off both of these. And this was all before he put on the Superman cape and flew from just inside the free throw line to put it down. Of course he didnt exactly dunk the ball, but on a night li
Continue reading "The NBA Slam Dunk Competition is Back By Phillip Jones"
