Washington Redskins free Agency Splash

I'm not surprised at all that Danny Boy went out and spent more on two players in an hour than what the salary cap is supposed to be this year.  Without Joe Gibbs at the helm telling Danny Boy that he can't go out and get every big name there is out there, he went out and got every big name there was out there.  With the exception of Slippery Hands Mcgee (Terrell Owens), we got the biggest names out there.

De'angelo Hall is a great player, could be one of the best in the league.  I think we overpaid for him but, he's a local guy who loves this team, and wants to be here.  54 million dollars is a lot of money to give a guy who got cut from Oakland.  Thats worse than giving an offensive lineman 30 million who got cut from Buffalo, which we also did.  Thank god we didn't give 50 million or whatever to a certain wide receiver who got cut from Dallas.  Oakland is supposed to be the wasteland that players go to when they are at the end of their career and want to get paid.  I thought we were past the 100 million dollar team of 2000.  Remember?  Jeff George, Mark Carrier, Bruce Smith, Prime Time Moron, etc.  I guess not.  Hall has a knack for intercepting the ball, he's a hawk and he flocks towards it.  We need that since our other "top" corner couldn't catch a cold in Seattle.  Carlos Rogers had more drops than Braylon Edwards (not really, just making a point).

Albert Haynesworth was the biggest guy in free agency, size and name wise.  He was the best defensive player in the league, or so i've been told.  Fact, he has never completed a full season in his entire career!  Never!  How do you give 100 million bucks (which turns into 115 with incentives), to a guy who has anger problems, and gets injured every year.  Thats like signing a 34 year old quarterback who's past his prime, and had season-ending shoulder injury for 35 million.  It doesn't make any sense to me. (For those of you that didn't get that, just think Mark Bru..........).  Yes, Alberto can close the pocket fast, take 2 guys to defend, and get to the quarterback.  But he's paid now, he's not in a "contract year."  How is he gonna perform when he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone?  He'll get injured or suspended and it'll be more "dead" cap space for ole Danny Boy.

Maybe i'm wrong.  Maybe Alberto won't stomp on anybody's head, or get injured in week 2.  Maybe De'angelo Hall won't get fined or suspended for wearing a "Free Michael Vick" shirt.  Maybe Carlos Rogers will intercept a pass this year, who knows?  Maybe Clinton Portis will give up carries to other running backs this year.  Maybe Dan Snyder will stay out of team production.  Maybe, just maybe the redskins will be a "respectable" team.  Sure Sure, and the Wizards are gonna win the NBA championship.  I'll just hop in my helicopter, fly to my island, hang out with Jessica Alba on the beach, and tan on my 24 karat gold beach chair.  Excuse me while I go vomit.
