2009 NFL Draft: Redskins Edition

Ok, well here we go again.  Like the pre-Gibbs years, we barely have enough draft picks to satisfy more than one position.  We have 4 total picks, 4!!  If i'm not mistaken there are 7 rounds, and everybody gets 2 in the 7th round.  We have 4, thanks in large part to our "Director" Vinny Cerrato.  We threw a 2nd round pick this year and a 6th rounder next year to miami for Jason Taylor.  Wow, another brilliant move by the freakin skins.  What did he play like 3 games?   Had a career low in sacks, forced fumbles, etc.  Now he has been released because he didn't feel like practicing.  " I'm 100 percent positive he'll play longer than one year"-Vinny Cerrato.  Genius, thanks Vin Dieseldorf.  A 2nd round pick is very valuable, especially a high 2nd rounder.  Lets see who a couple of players were as 2nd rounders.

Osi Umenyiora, Bob Sanders, Lofa Tatupu, Demeco Ryans, Tony Ugoh, Devin Hester, blah blah blah

Great value Dieseldorf, I thought great teams were built through the draft.  What the hell are we supposed to do with 4 picks?  Only one in the first couple rounds too, sweet.  Here are my suggestions.

Joe Bugel has stated that he believes the 2-6 collapse was all due to the offensive line.  So, if you were Vin dieseldorf what would you do?  Joe Bugel is so legendary he is more important to this area than the president.  If he says O-line you go O-line, not the "Sexy" pick.

First round- Michael Oher OT Ole Miss.  Very Solid overall pick, a Chris Samuels or Jon Jansen if you will.  Somebody that can come in immediately and start, and stay a starter for over 10 years.  Thats what they SHOULD do.  What will they do?

First round- Brian Orakpo DE Texas.  If he falls to 13, Vin and Oh Danny Boy will be shaking.  He is too sexy of a pick not to take for them.  If he gets picked before the skins pick, I say Everett Brown DE Florida State.  I know we need help at end after the release of Taylor, and the stupid non re-signing of Demetric Evans but it can wait till the 3rd round.

Our needs: Defensive End, Offensive Line, Outside Linebacker (to replace Marcus Washington), punter, and kicker.

End I addressed, O-line I addressed, so lets check out linebacker.

H.B. Blades, son of former Pro Bowler Bennie Blades is a great young talent.  I think he will be a solid player for many years.  However, I don't believe he is our answer to a starter at linebacker.  James Farrior would have been a dream pick for me, apart from Bart Scott or Channing Crowder.  If Aaron Curry from Wake or Aaron Maybin from Penn State are available and a decent O-lineman isn't, we should take one of em.

Punter: Not in the draft!!  I hoped we all learned something from last year, don't draft a punter!  Find one via Free Agency or as an undrafted free agent.  Remember Durant Brooks!

Kicker: Mike Nugent would've been nice, Shayne Graham and Rob Bironas too.  But no, we'll sign Shaun Squeezy to a tender.  He missed more field goals last year than David Beckham did for the Galaxy.  But its cool, we are all about second chances in DC......Ridiculous.

Dieseldorf and Danny boy better get it right this year, last years draft was a freakin Carrot Top joke.  4 of our draft picks from last year won't be or aren't playing for this team anymore.  Our best pick?  7th round safety Chris Horton, which was a lucky guess at best.

Ever played Keno?  There is a box you can check and it lets the computer randomly select for you, thats what I wish the skins could do with the draft. AH!
