Lavar Arrington bashes Gibbs & Snyder

This is simply outrageous.  Former Redskin linebacker, Lavar Arrington, came out with some callous remarks about Hall of Fame Coach Joe Gibbs, and Redskin owner Dan Snyder in an interview.

"I called Joe Gibbs a coward for leaving," Arrington said.  "You came in, you made some money for your NASCAR team.  No one else is going to say that.  I'm sure more people thought I was a [jerk] for saying that.  Joe wouldn't call me because he knows.  There are a lot of people who know the truth about what went down with me and the Redskins."

Then about Snyder, Arrington stated "I think Dan Snyder is scared to death of me... He won't look at me.  I tried to shake his hand at [a] luncheon.  He shook my hand and was like 'How you doing, LaVar?' and kept moving.  I'm probably the only person that's ever stood up to him and never backed down."

"I root for the Redskins because how I feel about the fans outweighs how the organization treated me.  I always take pleasure in taking jabs at Dan because people like him need that.  There's got to be a person out there who's not afraid to do it."

First off, say what you will about Dan Snyder.  I'm a die-hard Redskins fan myself, but I'm not going to run to his defense.  But at the same time, the man brought back Joe Gibbs, and as far as this fan is concerned, that's a step in the right direction.  But that's where my defense would end.

Now the real tragedy here is the infantile attempt to mire the name of a great man, let alone a proven Super Bowl Coach, by a disgruntled former player who really has no business even being mentioned in the same sentence as J.G.  But perhaps that's all the fuel some people need, hence this desperate cry for attention.

This saddens me more than most would believe, because at one time, I was a huge fan of Arrington, naturally loving the Redskins like I do.  Well today I'm ashamed to even admit I have his jersey, and will only be torn on the decision of trashing it because it is after all, a Redskins jersey.

When Arrington talked about former Skins defensive coordinator Greg  Williams, he said "If Gregg hadn't been corrupted by the front office agenda, I probably would've had a hell of a year with him, but there were too many hidden agendas for me to be successful in that regime."

Don't know about you guys, but there are two big things that stand out to me in that statement..... "I" and "me".  I think he hit the nail on the head, when you think "I" and "me", you won't be successful, and he didn't belong on that team.  Not with the kind of work ethic that a man like Joe Gibbs puts in and in turn inspires in his players.  If I remember correctly, I watched Arrington, while he was nursing one of his many injuries (are those the coaches faults too?), sit in club level seats, and watch the rest of his team play.  And this man calls Joe Gibbs a coward?

Joe Gibbs who is notorious for constantly working into the AM until garbage trucks are making their rounds, and even spending some nights on a cot sleeping at the stadium?  Joe Gibbs who is the only coach to win three Super Bowls with three different quarterbacks?  Joe Gibbs who has dedicated so much of his life to the Redskins organization?  I'm certain Arrington couldn't fathom that kind of dedication.  Sadly the largest factor in wasted potential.

Clearly what we have here is a simple matter of Arrington misdirecting anger and frustration over a lackluster career onto someone who has worked hard and achieved great success.  How very sad.
