Hello virtual world! I'm the newest addition to the biggest, fastest, and strongest blogging site in the world of professional sports! It also happens to be my 20th birthday today! This new guy thing is going so well, the celebration has already started!
So the Redskins pulled another one out this Sunday against the "fearsome" 2-0 Cardinals, our old doormat for those who still remember. And while the Cards are certainly doing their best to shake the label, they just couldn't handle the weight of breaking years and years of tradition this week. One thing I took away from this game? Jason Campbell can get it done, consistently (remember last week against the saints?), under pressure. I mean, not only does he make a courageous comeback against a tough NFC opponent in New Orleans, winning in the last few minutes, he also OUTPLAYED arguably the hottest QB in the NFL in Kurt Warner. Warner had a PERFECT passer rating against the dolphins, and had yet to throw an interception up until he played the Redskins.
It was also good to see the O-Line blocking so well for Campbell at key points in the game. I remember watching the season opener against the Giants thinking "This kid is about as cool as the warm side of the pillow!". He did NOT respond to the blitz well, and was very skittish in any situation that required him to sidestep a defender, causing his throws to become more uncontrollable and stopping the rhythm of the offense. I was particularly impressed when Jon Jansen came in for an injured Stephon Heyer and performed better than he had in preseason. The re-emergence of Santana Moss has been awesome to see, and is a huge reason we're sitting at 2-1 instead of 0-3. Couple that with Clinton Portis running hard every play and Chris Cooley tearing up the middle of the field, and you have a pretty good Offense for a young QB like Campbell to work with.
