Marcus Washington
After days of celebrating our awesome victory over dallas, one thing i'd like to address is the poor play of lb marcus washington. He was completely invisible on run coverage, shying away from physical contact, and absolutely terrible in pass defense. I doubt that he has even amassed a single pass deflection in four games. After speaking with a few fellow redskins fans, it became clear that he is no longer a starting quality linebacker for this team. I personally would like to see more play from H.B. Blades, our late round choice and college stud, even if he is a little too short to cover some tight ends. At least he would be playing the run well, and with the passion that we used to see come from Washington. Marcus was beat several times by Jason Witten on key plays, including a touchdown in which all Witten did was run a simple seam route. If this theme continues throughout the season, or even vs LJ Smith in the Eagles game, the Redskins should scoure the free agent market and look for any talent available to start or develop at his position. We are a legit contender, and we need legit players who can make plays, not washed up sentimentals looking for sympathy.
